Shelli M. (Rankin) Long

Shelli M. (Rankin) Long
August 12, 1952 ~ April 25, 2026

Services to celebrate and honor the life of Shelli M. Long will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Cedar Point Church in Claremore. Shelli passed away peacefully at her home in Bernice on Saturday, April 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 73 years old.

Shelli was born on August 12, 1952, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Arlice and Betty (Bohannan) Rankin. She spent her early years in Nowata, Grove, and Sallisaw before moving to Claremore in the seventh grade. She graduated from Claremore High School with the Class of 1970. On September 27, 1991, she married the love of her life, Wayne Long. Together they built a life centered on family, raising two daughters, Cassie and Melissa, and a son, Nicholas.

Shelli was a dedicated and hardworking woman who provided for her family as the Office Manager for Scott Savage at Halcyon Marble until her retirement. She took great pride in both her work and her role as a provider. She lived life fully and joyfully. In her younger years, she loved playing softball alongside lifelong friends, including Vicki Smith and Susie Caperton. She enjoyed reading, dancing, traveling on cruises, chatting with the wives of CFD and hosting family and friends at the lake—where she was known for making the best sausage balls.

A devoted fan, Shelli rarely missed cheering on OU football. She cherished time spent on her deck watching birds, taking golf cart rides through the neighborhood, and visiting with friends—always keeping treats on hand for their dogs. She had a special love for Boxers, especially her beloved two Cinnamon’s and Marlie.

Shelli also enjoyed fishing tournaments with her partner, Phyllis Moss, and shared in several wins. She and Wayne celebrated success in jackpot tournaments at Claremore Lake, even winning a boat. They spent many happy days on their pontoon, anchored with family and friends, as part of a close-knit group affectionately known as the “Nipple Deep Club.” In recent years, she especially looked forward to their monthly gatherings at Steve Hurley’s shop at the lake.

Above all, Shelli excelled in her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those she cared about. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Long; her children, Cassie McKellips and husband Adam, Melissa Lacy and Kipp Clodfelter, and Nicholas Long and wife Ashley; her cherished grandchildren, Zoie, Rubie, Oakley, Kyler, Corgan, Kinzley, and Cash; her special niece, Brandi Clinton and husband Rob; her brother-in-law, Ronnie Robison; and many extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Sherri; and her grandparents, Ollie and Red Robertson.
