Lonnie Long

March 1, 1928 ~ May 7, 2009

Lonnie Long, 81, of Lavaca entered into rest on May 7, 2009, in Fort Smith. He was born March 1, 1928, in Alex, Okla. He was preceded in death by a son, David Long.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Long of Lavaca; two daughters, Kimberly Shepherd of Bakersfield, Calif., and Kasey Powers of Greenwood; four sisters, Charline Kilso of Oregon, Nina Darwell of Dos Palos, Calif., Ina Mae Shaw of Alex, Okla., and Alma Finch of Lancaster, Calif.; two brothers, Elvin Long of Farmington, N.M., and William E. Long of Dos Palos, Calif.; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Island Cemetery in Lavaca.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5 to 7 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of the service.

The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Chapel in Lavaca.
