Karen Jolene (Burnett) Long

Karen Jolene (Burnett) Long
August 01, 1961 ~ August 06, 2018

Karen Jolene Long was born August 1st, 1961 and saw Jesus August 6th, 2018.

In the words of Karen Long. "It pains me to admit it, but apparently I have passed away. Everyone told me it would happen one day, but that's simply not something I expected to hear so soon, much less experience so soon. This time, I didn't get things my way!

Here's the condensed story of my life. On August 1st, 1961 my parents, Kelly Burnett and the late Margie Burnett of Ball Creek, AR, celebrated my birth and introduced me to the world as Karen Jolene Burnett.

At the age of 16 years old, I married my high school sweetheart, Carl Long. We recently celebrated 40 years together. We had three daughters, Kristi Cooper and husband Marcus of Coyle, OK. Melissa Maker and husband Chad of Coyle, OK, and Stacy Moore and husband Javen of Stillwater, OK. My inherited children, Natasha Moorman and husband Colton of Coyle, OK, Jamie Warden of Springdale, AR, Kayla Warden of Coyle, OK, and Chance Warden of Coyle, OK.

The treasures and memories of my life are irreplaceable and will go with me wherever my journey takes me. My greatest treasures are the ones that call me "Grandma"- Hannah and Mason Maker, Jachin and Beckham Cooper, Conner and Payson Moorman, Kadence Warden and Jaxon Tomlinson, all of Coyle, OK.

I also have four siblings, Kay Passow and husband Ben of Perry, OK, the late Freda Burnett, Larry Burnett and wife Melissa of Wesley, AR and Lesley Burnett of Ball Creek, AR. And we can't forget, my partner in crime and best friend, Vicky Hicks of Coyle, OK.

At the time, so many things in my life seemed of little significance when they happened, however, those little things took on a greater importance over time. The memories I'm taking with me now are so very precious and have more value than all the gold and silver in my jewelry box.

No buildings are named after me; no monuments erected in my honor. I DID, however, have the chance to know and love each and every one of my friends and family dearly. How much more blessed can a person be?

So, in the end, remember this- do your best, follow Jesus, and make something amazing out of your life. Oh, and never stop smiling.

Remember me when you are looking at the evening sunset or with the earliest Spring daffodils with the fluttering butterflies. Find comfort in knowing that I'm there with you in one form or another.

I'll leave you with this, please don't cry because I'm gone; instead be happy that I was here and celebrate my life (Or maybe you can cry a little, after all, I have passed away). But, today I am happy and I am dancing on the streets of gold with Jesus. I'll love each and every one of you forever. It's not "goodbye", it's "I'll see you later".

With all my love, Karen"
