Betty Jo (VanSant) Lofton

September 28, 1924 ~ March 31, 2008

Memorial services for Betty Jo VanSant Lofton, 83, were held at 3 p.m., Friday, April 4 at the Women’s Community Club House, Kirkland, Washington, with pastor Gary Schwarz officiating. Following cremation, her ashes were interred at Kirkland.

Born September 28, 1924, in Marietta, the daughter of Lelan and Ida Mae Peterman VanSant, she died Monday, March 31, 2008, in Bellevue, Washington.

She had been a resident of Kirkland for 36 years. Betty Jo VanSant and William David Lofton were married June 4, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Tom Amo of Palm Desert, California, Deborah McAmes of Kirkland, Betty and Brent King of Auburn, Washington, and Virginia and Rick Schnabel of Shelton, Washington; three sons, David Lofton and William Lofton of Kirkland, and Mathew Lofton of Granada Hills, California; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia L. Smith of Quapaw; and a number of loving nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Marcus Lofton; a daughter, Margaret A. Lofton; five brothers, Leland A., Henry S., Hubert W., Gilbert L. and Bill E. VanSant; and three sisters, Edwina Burden, Anna Bell Alexander and Margaret L. Hill.
