Gary Gene Link

Gary Gene Link
February 21, 1949 ~ May 12, 2026

Gary Gene Link, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 12, 2026, at The Journey Home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Nowata, Oklahoma, to Charles and Loree (Stuart) Link and was raised alongside his sister, Janice. Gary attended school in Nowata, graduating with the Nowata High School Class of 1967. Following high school, he attended the University of Oklahoma and later graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma State University.

On June 23, 1973, Gary married Kathryn Jan Burris. Although they later divorced, they remained close friends and shared many years of memories and family together.

Gary spent many years working for the State of Oklahoma Employment Security Commission before retiring and beginning a second career doing what he truly loved — construction and carpentry, working alongside his son Matt. He had a remarkable talent for building and could create anything from simple shelves to elaborate furniture pieces. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and especially enjoyed gifting handmade projects to his children and family.

Gary had a deep passion for raising and training Brittany Spaniel bird dogs for quail hunting. When the quail population began to decline, he even began raising quail himself. He was also an avid golfer and a member of both the Sunset Country Club and Sedan Country Club, where he enjoyed many rounds with friends. Gary took immense pride in caring for his property, was a devoted fan of the University of Oklahoma Sooners, and loved spending time outdoors.

Above all else, Gary treasured his family. His dogs, Lily and Pearl, and his six grandchildren were truly the pride and joy of his life. He loved sharing stories and spending time with those he loved most.

Gary is survived by his son, Todd Link and wife Blair of Bartlesville; daughter Lindsay Henderson and husband Jay of Caney, Kansas; daughter-in-law Stacy Link of Bartlesville; grandchildren Riley Bright, Addie Link, Charley Link, Dalton Link, Parker Link, and Hudson Link; sister Jan Ross; niece Shelly Folta and husband Mark; nephew Kirk Ross and wife Laura; and many other family and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Matt Link, and his parents, Charles and Loree Link.

Gary will be remembered for his unwavering optimism, steadfast resilience, and the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 21st at Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Walker Brown Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com
