Billy Ray Lindley

Billy Ray Lindley, 88 was a Christian gentleman that gave fully of himself to all his family and friends. Dad had an infectious smile and an understated sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

Billy Ray was born to Robert Lee Lindley and Cornelia Henderson Lindley in Ranger, TX on June 19, 1927. He grew up with his brothers Harold and Reagan and attended Newcastle High School. He was the hometown quarterback and fell in love with the cheerleader of his life - Marjorie (Sissy) Helm Lindley. They were married on January 4. 1946 and lived a romantic fun filled life together for 67 years. After the war, they moved to Denton, TX where he attended North Texas University and received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts. They had two children, Carol Lindley and Billy Ray Lindley II. They moved to Dallas where he went to work for USF&G Insurance Company as a Safety Engineer and then moved the family for a short time to El Paso, TX and Tulsa, OK. They became long time resident’s in their final home of Norman, OK. He became Assistant Manager of the Regional Branch of USF&G in Oklahoma City and worked 35 loyal and dedicated years.

He is survived by Betty Ann Lindley, Plano TX, Joyce Lindley, El Paso TX, Gladys Helm, Waubun Minnesota. Also, his children, Carol Lindley, Norman OK, Bill & (wife) Pat Lindley, Edmond OK. Grandchildren, Brian & (wife) Tiffany Lindley, Oklahoma City, Melissa & (husband) Clark Roberts, Branson, MO. Great-Grandchildren, Lily Kate & Aidan James Lindley and Grand-Dog Savannah II.

Preceding his death was his wife Marjorie (Sissy), parents Robert & Cornelia Lindley, and family members Harold Lindley and Reagan Lindley.

Many thanks and prayers go out to all the caregivers and staff of the ICU unit at Norman Regional Hospital that helped dad throughout the last few weeks of his life. Most of all we want to thank Dr. Aaron Boyd for being the most amazing, gentle, compassionate, and caring physician you could ever have.

In lieu of flowers for the memory of Billy Ray please make a donation to your favorite charity. Arrangements for Billy Ray and his family were placed in the care of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman OK. Graveside Services will be at the Newcastle Cemetery in Texas at 11:30a.m., Friday, January 29, 2016.
