Prudie (Pinkerton) Leibrock

November 6, 1913 ~ November 1, 2008

Prudie Pinkerton Leibrock passed away on November 1, 2008 after a long illness. She was born to Jesse and Lila Pinkerton in Gans, Oklahoma on November 6, 1913.

She graduated from Stilwell High School and attended Northeastern State College in Talequah, Oklahoma. While working at the Stanolind Oil Company research lab in Tulsa she met Robert M. (Bob) Leibrock, and in 1946 they married in the First Christian Church of Tulsa. Their sons are Bob, born in Tulsa in 1948, and Eric, born in 1950 in Fort Worth.

The family moved to Midland in the early 1950's. In 1969 Prudie began a career as a watercolor artist. She studied under several prominent watercolorists and was a member of the Texas Watercolor Society, with two of her paintings accepted for its annual exhibitions. She won several awards in local shows, and a number of her paintings may be seen in private homes and offices.

Prudie and Bob were among the first members of Memorial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she taught pre-school age Sunday School for many years. In 1978 the Leibrocks established the Harold Glen Brown Chair at Brite Divinity School at TCU, in honor of Dr. Brown, the founding minister of Memorial Christian and later professor at Brite. In 1999 they endowed the first professorship chair in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Leibrock, on April 3, 2006, as well as by her parents and her brothers Earl, Faye, Thomas, and Clyde Pinkerton, and her sister Gladys Pinkerton Ray.

She is survived by her sons and their families, Bob and Pam of Midland and Eric and Ellen of Austin and her beloved granddaughters, Susan Leibrock of Austin, Jane Leibrock of New York City, and Christa Caraway of Fort Worth and her husband, Carson Caraway. Prudie's sister, Clara Lynch, sister-in-law, Gladys Leibrock, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive her.

The family expresses its thanks to her primary caregiver, Linda Holstead, and her many other faithful caregivers, her physician Dr. Gregory Bartha, and dear members of her monthly "Lunch Bunch."

Visitation will be Friday 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M.at Ellis Funeral Home. Memorial Celebration of Life services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Memorial Christian Church with Rev. Terry Rothermich officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to Memorial Christian Church, 1001 Andrews Hwy, Midland TX 79701, or Midland College Foundation, 3600 N.
