Norma Brothers Leffler, age 97, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2012 in Signal Mountain, TN.

She was born in Lebanon, Oklahoma and graduated with a B.S. degree in Education from Northeastern State Teacher's College in Tahlequah. She married L.A. "Sam" Leffler in 1937, and taught for many years in Oklahoma schools. She served on the board of the Harmon Foundation, the board of the Nowata Library, and the State Board of Excellence in Education which was founded by David Boren. She was honored as a Person of Distinction by the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association in 2005.

She was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Nowata where she had taught both youth and adult Sunday School classes and served as an elder.

Mrs. Leffler is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gerre and Doug Schwert, Signal Mountain, Tennessee, her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandra Leffler of Owasso; grandchildren Doug Smith of Dallas, Mike Smith of Bartlesville, Ree (Ladd) Drummond of Pawhuska, Betsy (Matt) Schoenholz of Seattle, Jon (Asta) Leffler of Milwaukee, and Julie Clyman of Broken Arrow; eleven beloved great-grandchildren, eleven nieces and nephews, and many valued friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, in 1983, her daughter-in-law, Trish in 1977, her parents, three sisters and a brother.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 15, at 11 am at the First Christian Church in Nowata. Memorial contributions may be made to the church at 211 South Pine, Nowata, Oklahoma 74048.
