John Lawson, age 93 of Wayne, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Norman Regional Healthplex.
John William Lawson was born April 8, 1923 in Trousdale, OK, 1 of 14 children born to Dow and Nancy (Lambdin) Lawson. He was raised in Trousdale and attended Tribbey Schools. John moved to California to live with his brother and look for work. As chance would have it, he met a young lady from Orange Cove named Dorothy Ann Clem. They fell madly in love and were married January 13, 1950 in Fresno, CA. They first made their home in the Branscomb/Laytonville area and John began working at the Branscomb Saw Mill. John then moved to Ukiah, California and began working for Masonite. It was during this time that he and Dorothy raised their children John, Nancy and Darla. He retired as a press operator after more than 36 years of dedicated service. But John’s heart was always back in Oklahoma, so in 1992, he and Dorothy moved to Wayne. When not working, John enjoyed camping, hunting and he never missed an opportunity to go fishing. He enjoyed taking long drives in the country and visiting with family. John cherished Dorothy and was a wonderful father and grandfather, and a faithful companion to his fur baby, Layla. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His parents, D.W. & Nancy Lawson and His siblings: Geneva, Mitchell, Marshall, Green, Bill, Martha, Ima, Arnold, Mary, Dorothy, Izora and two who died in infancy.
John leaves behind: His wife Dorothy, Son, John Lawson and Pat of Lexington; 2 daughters, Nancy Leahy and Paul of Auburn, CA and Darla Lawson and Ray of Wayne; Grandchildren, John Lawson Jr., Jeffrey Lawson, Michael Nailor, Trina Pelanconi, Jason Whipple, Joseph Paulino, Robert Hamilton, Sean Leahy, Joel Leahy and Mitchell Leahy. 10 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home. Send online condolences at wilsonlittle.com.
