Dean Maurice "Deano" Lawson

June 1, 1920 ~ May 15, 2020

Dean "Deano" Maurice Lawson, 99, of Ponca City, died at Via Christi Village on May 14, 2020. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dean was born on June 1, 1920, in Doniphan, Nebraska, to George and Mabel (Patterson) Lawson. The family moved to Ponca City when Dean was still an infant. He graduated from high school in 1938. Dean went to work for Conoco in 1940 in the refinery control lab. Dean married Doris Silva on July 21, 1950 and celebrated 69 years of marriage before her passing in August 2019.

Dean joined the US Army in November of 1942. The Army then sent him to the University of Kentucky under the Army Special Training Program. He was discharged from the US Army-Air Force in February of 1946.

He returned to Ponca City and worked at Continental Oil Company. He transferred from the control lab to research and development in 1960. After retiring in March of 1977, Dean and Doris spent many summers in Bigfork, Montana on Flathead Lake fishing for salmon. They also spent 27 winters in South Texas at Zapata on Falcon Lake.

Dean was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a 32 Degree Master Mason for over 70 years. He loved traveling, fishing, golfing and playing dominoes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Humanity Hospice, 1109 N. Bryant Ave #100, Edmond, Ok 73034.
