Misty (Crockett) Lathan

September 5, 1961 ~ December 27, 2008

Misty C. (Crockett) Lathan, born September 5th, 1961 in Oklahoma City, was tragically and suddenly taken from us all on Saturday, December 27th. Misty graduated from Midwest City High School in 1979.

She served for a short time as a judicial assistant to Judge Layne Phillips, then served as a deputy county clerk for the Western District of Oklahoma, and, until recently, served loyally for fifteen years as a judicial assistant to United States District Judge David Russell.

Misty was head-strong and could be as stubborn as the Oklahoma winter winds are cold, but tempered it all with her great, talkative, and unique personality, her passion for work, and her undying love for her family. She genuinely always felt blessed when she was able to help others. She was a doting and loving mother who made lifelong friends whose lives were touched and blessed by knowing her. Misty had a wonderful spirit and a love for life that she lived her own way, by her own rules.

She long ago accepted the Lord as her savior and guiding light, from which she never strayed, and now her loyalty to Him has brought her into His kingdom of love and light.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret 'Muna' Canfield, and her two pals---grandfather John Dorsey and nephew Sean Crockett.

Misty is survived by her parents, Faye and Tom Denton and Allen and Rose Crockett, her children and loves of her life, Nick and Karlee, her brother and confidant, Dirk Crockett, her grandmother, Lorene Dorsey, sisters Lorene and Teresa, brothers Barry, Garry, Read, Frank and Brooks and all their families, nieces Katie Porter and Angie Crockett, family friend Estelle Bushyhead, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, and loves whom she always thought of and who will all miss her deeply.

Do not remember the extinguished flame, but for how brightly it burned.

Visitation will be 8am-8pm Wednesday and Thursday. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Friday, January 2, 2009 at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel.
