Gordon Earl Larkin

Gordon Earl Larkin
September 14th 1930 ~ March 11, 2013

Gordon Earl Larkin passed away peacefully at his home March 11th 2013 with his loving family by his side.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Woolaroc Event Center southwest of Bartlesville Oklahoma on March 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. At his request, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Washington County, SPCA in Bartlesville.

Gordon was born September 14th 1930 in Iola, Kansas, son of Mark and Lucille Ellis Larkin. He attended school in Iola, Chanute, Columbus, and finally wound up in his self proclaimed hometown of Parsons, Kansas. He served in the the Air Force from 1951 until 1955 and was stationed in Korea with The Mosquitos as a cryptography technician.

He married Nadine Moon on September 12th 1955. They shared 50 wonderful years together until her death in 2005. After a brief trip to Florida, they settled in Bartlesville Oklahoma in 1955 where he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company. He spent many happy years there in the Engineering and Public Affairs department as a graphics illustrator.

In the early 1970's he drew the enviromentally themed, syndicated cartoon strip, The Pollut-o-crats, with his brother Mark. It ran in 20 newspapers nationwide for 5 years. He retired from Phillips in 1986. He spent his retirement traveling, pursuing his passion for photography, and his true love of cartooning. If anyone he knew had an unusual story, event, or was in need of lampooning, a Golark cartoon would soon show up for them. This continued all of his days, using his Facebook page, Golark Productions, as his platform to reach a whole new generation.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, and his willingness to put others before himself. He was a good man and will be missed by many.

Gordon is survived by one brother Mark (Babe) Larkin of Nineveh Indiana, two children, Cindy Krafft and her husband Rob of Tulsa and Jerry Larkin of Bartlesville. Five grandchildren, Chris Krafft and his wife Susan of Ft. Smith Arkansas, Ben Krafft of Tulsa Oklahoma, Kourtney Krafft of Tulsa Oklahoma, Kelsy Larkin of Tulsa Oklahoma, and Katy Larkin of Dewey Oklahoma. And two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine, his father, Mark, his mother, Lucille, and his brothers Larry and Jim.

The Woolaroc Event Center is located at Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve on Hwy. 123 southwest of Bartlesville.
