James Jacob "Jim" Lange

James Jacob "Jim" Lange
August 15, 1926 ~ April 16, 2009

James Jacob "Jim" Lange was born on 15 August 1926 in Winnebago, Minnesota and spent his youth in Dubuque, Iowa.

He was in the United States Air Force during World War II. After leaving the military Jim attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts.

Jim started working for the Daily Oklahoman on 1 October 1950 at the age of 24 years. He retired in October, 2008, having served as an editorial cartoonist. He was also a co-founder of American Association of Editorial Cartoonists. In 1993 he was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame.

Jim was married to Helen [Johnstone] Lange.

At the time of his death Jim was 82 and in ill health.

Jim leaves to mourn him, Helen, his wife, two sons and a daughter and 11 grandchildren.

The funeral will be under the direction of the North Colonial Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuaries-Crematoriums
