Avis Glenda Lamb

June 8, 1933 ~ Feb. 26, 2007

The funeral for Avis Glenda Lamb, 73, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Roy Schneider will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born June 8, 1933, in Petersburg, Va., to Cordie and Ella Tilden Whitfield Bailey and died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at her home.

She was raised in Ports-mouth, Va., graduating from Craddock High School in 1951. She moved with her family to Wiesbaden, Ger-many, later returning to Virginia Beach, Va., where she worked for Campbell's Camera Shop.

She married Fred Lamb July 6, 1957, in Virginia Beach.

She received a bachelor of liberal studies degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1992 and a master�s degree in library and information sciences in 1996 also from OU. She worked as director of Public Library of Enid and Garfield County from November 1996 until she retired in May 2003. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Oklaho-ma Library Association, American Library Association and Eastern Star in Lincoln, Ark.

Surviving are her husband, Fred of the home; one son, Perry Bassett Lamb of Kennesaw, Ga.; one daughter, Holly Whitfield Lamb of Enid; and one sister, Joan Stallings of Smithville, Va.

Memorials may be made in the form of books to be accepted at the funeral service and donated to the Public Library of Enid and Garfield County.
