William Floyd "Bill" Lacy

William Floyd "Bill" Lacy
July 11, 1946 ~ May 29, 2024

William Floyd Lacy, known as Bill, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on May 29th, 2024.

He was born July 11, 1946 in Oklahoma City to Floyd & Pauline Lacy. He attended school at Wakita, OK. Bill was raised with his older brother Jerry on the family farm southwest of town. He started farming with his father at a very young age and fondly spoke of driving a wheat truck during harvest when he could barely see over the steering wheel.

On November 18, 1972 Bill married Sharon Walton, the daughter of lifelong family friends. They had two daughters Sara Beth and Mary Christina (Chrissy). The family moved from Wakita to Canton, OK in 1983. Bill became a grandfather for the first time at the age of 75. His grandsons were his pride and joy. He loved watching them sing and dance. In 2022 Bill and Sharon celebrated 50 years of marriage with friends and family at a wonderful party given by their daughters.

Bill was a farmer-rancher at heart and loved working outdoors. He worked many years as a pumper at Viersen & Cochran until the company’s closure. He then continued working in the oilfield until his retirement in 2013. Bill was also an EMT for over 30 years. He began assisting on the ambulance as a teenager and attended one of the 1st EMT courses taught in Oklahoma. He worked many years on the Canton-Longdale Ambulance Service.

Bill was a 32nd Degree Mason and a life member of both the Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Canton Christian Church. As a young man Bill loved roller skating and would take his family skating most Saturday nights. Anyone that knew Bill knew he loved to visit and tell stories. He had a lifetime of stories and tales to tell.

Bill is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; his daughter Sara Pippins & husband Roger; his daughter Chrissy Eichelberger & husband Hank; two grandsons, Henry Floyd Eichelberger & William Lee Eichelberger; and his great niece Tiffany Barker & husband Jacob & sons. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and her daughter; a brother-in-law and his wife, several cousins, nieces, and one nephew. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Lacy.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Canton Christian Church with Pastor Justin Brodie and Jim McGinn officiating. Memorials can be made to Canton-Longdale EMS, Canton Senior Citizens or Canton Christian Church through Pierce Funeral Home, P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK, 73724.
