Linda Ruth (Caudell) Kummers

Linda Ruth (Caudell) Kummers
March 26, 1941 ~ September 12, 2020

Linda Ruth Caudell Kummers, 79, was born March 26, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee to Thomas Abe and Clara Francis Caudell. She passed away peacefully on September 12, 2020. She grew up and attended school in Memphis graduating from St. Joseph Nurses Training as a registered nurse.

She served in the US Air Force as an RN at Homestead Air Force Base in Homestead, Florida. She had a successful career in nursing serving in several capacities. She considered her training and duties as a nurse very seriously. She worked at Muskogee General Hospital, Muskogee Regional Medical Center (currently knows as St. Francis Hospital of Muskogee) in the Emergency Room, Operating Room, Central Supply Department and Materials Management. She was lovingly nicknamed "Sarge" to those around her. She also worked for Service Master Medical in Tulsa, Amarillo, Opelousas, Louisiana, Chicago, St. Louis then returning home to Muskogee in 1990. After retirement, she worked at Eufaula Hospital with Epic.

She enjoyed golf, working in her yard, reading and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and The Good Shephard Clinic. Linda's famous homemade lasagna was the traditional Christmas Dinner that brought the family together each year. She also hosted a Christmas Cookie Bake in her home for the family, grandchildren and special loved ones. She always loved animals and had 2 special cats she adopted and loved for the past 15 years - Joe and Mabel. Linda was of the Catholic faith.

She is lovingly survived by her children: daughter Liz Mahan and husband DeWayne of Chickasha, Oklahoma and son David Kummers and wife Melody of Muskogee; 4 grandchildren: Corey (Jessica) Mahan, Hannah (Jake) Gwinn, David (Tinisha) Kummers Jr. and Adam Kummers; 2 great grandchildren, Haythen and Brantley Kummers. Other survivors include 2 brothers: John (Judy) Caudell and Bob (Maverick) Jeffrey and cousin, Carol McNeilly.

The family is honoring Linda's wishes to hold a private memorial at a later date. Memorial Contributions in her honor may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
