Deanna Jane (Spickelmier) Bensinger Coplin Knotts
Nov. 10, 1937 ~ Oct. 20, 2016

FORT WORTH, Texas - Deanna Jane Spickelmier-Bensinger-Coplin-Knotts passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016. Celebration of life: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Agape Baptist Church. In honor of her life, please feel free to wear shirts, jerseys or colors from your favorite team or school to the celebration of life service. Deanna would like that. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Deanna was born in Pawhuska, Okla., Nov. 10, 1937, to Howard Hubbell Spickelmier and Lucyle Clifton Spickelmier; she lived most of her younger years in Enid, Okla. She was a graduate of Enid High School and Oklahoma State University, where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees. She was a member of Mortar Board and later became a 50-year member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Deanna moved to Fort Worth and worked with the Tarrant County League of Women Voters for years, was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star where she loved playing the piano for numerous chapters.

Deanna was a giving, loving mother and grandmother who laughed heartily, and enjoyed life to the fullest. She taught math and science at Southwest High School and continued to substitute teach and tutor after retiring from FWISD. Deanna loved teaching Sunday school and ESL classes at Agape Baptist Church, where she was a longtime devoted member. She also baked the best pumpkin bread in the world.

She made each of her children and grandchildren feel special and unique. She loved her family, enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially her beloved Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. Dee never missed a ballgame in which one of her children played, and she was an avid fan of the universities where her children and grandchildren attended.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Tom Spickelmier; and husband, Edward Coplin.

Deanna is survived by her children, Dick Bensinger, Lucy King, Tobye Jane Poeschel and husband, Frank, and Nancy McDonald and husband, Eric; grandchildren, Shelby Bensinger, Nathan King, Naomi Bebout, Hannah Curren, Ruth King, Seth King, Daniel King, David King, Taylor Poeschel, Tanner Poeschel, Enid McDonald and Wyatt McDonald; great-granddaughter, Esther King; brother, Bob Spickelmier; sister, Lynn Butler.
