Arthur Merlin "Art" Kliewer

Arthur Merlin "Art" Kliewer
April 13, 1957 ~ August 15, 2022

Arthur Merlin Kliewer of Enid, Oklahoma, passed on August 15, 2022.

Art was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 13, 1957, to James Dee and Martha Kliewer.

He grew with family around Fairview, where they called him Mike, and also spent time in Mustang. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1975.

Art married Sandra "Sandi" Griffith in Enid, on November 18, 1979. They have lived in the Enid area ever since, raising their daughters Asia and Bee there.

When he was young, Art worked as a roughneck in the oil fields. He worked at Hughes Drilling for many years. He worked at GEFCO from 1995 until his retirement in 2019. His work took him all over the U.S. and to more than 40 countries. He saw the pyramids of Egypt, ancient Petra in Jordan, the jungles of Belize, and walked on the Great Wall of China.

Art liked to fish and hunt, pan for gold, and do woodworking. He was well known for his love of fireworks. His goofy demeanor made him a favorite to all kids. Art loved to play in the pool with his grandkids and always had a popsicle or homemade ice cream ready for them.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Paula Horath.

He is survived by his wife Sandra; his daughters, Brittany Glasscock of Enid and Asia Embers of McPherson, KS; seven grandchildren: Owen and Camilla Glasscock, Abilene and Ellis Frye, and Jacob, Ash, and Liam Hale; and three siblings, David Kliewer of Enid and Merry Lynn Capon and Frankie Lamb both of Waco, Texas.

The family will hold a private celebration of life ceremony. Memorials may be given to Lifewater.org.
