Carmen Kite, age 69, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Celebration of life service will be Sunday March 15,2026 at 2pm at the Elks Lodge, 520 West Oxford, Enid, OK. It will be officiated by Leland Streck, cremation arrangements made by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.
Carmen was born on October 10, 1956, in Great Bend to William E. and Wilma E. Lloyd. She grew up with a strong faith in God and a heart for helping others, qualities that remained with her throughout her life.
Carmen was known by everyone who met her as a truly kind and compassionate person. She never judged anyone and was always willing to listen. Her ability to care for others, offer advice, and simply be present made her a blessing to so many people. She touched countless lives through her kindness, her faith, and her genuine love for others.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. Carmen is survived by her loving husband, Doug Kite; her son, James Kite; and her daughter, Erica Kunzeman and husband Shane Kunzeman. She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of her first great-grandchild.
She is also survived by her sister, Cindy Rainbolt, and her husband Craig, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Carmen had many passions in life. She was an amazing softball player in her younger years and was known for her determination—even once making a college boys’ baseball team because there wasn't a softball team. She dedicated part of her life to teaching and mentoring others, always encouraging people to believe in themselves. She is a member of the Oklahoma Softball Hall of Fame.
She loved gardening and could make anything grow. She enjoyed creating beautiful ceramics on her pottery wheel, surrounding herself with the peaceful sound of wind chimes, and caring for the animals she loved so much. Carmen also had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to dance, and brought laughter and warmth wherever she went.
Above all, Carmen was an incredible mother and friend. She was always there for her children, Erica and James, offering unconditional love, guidance, and support.
She worked at Meadowlake golf course prior to getting a job at DHS as a foster care specialist. Carmen spent over a decade as a foster care specialist then transferred to Norce as a staff trainer retiring from the state of Oklahoma. After retiring, she was a substitute teacher to continue her passion of serving children.
Carmen’s kindness, faith, strength, and love will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her family finds comfort in knowing her spirit lives on in their hearts and in the countless memories she created with those she loved.
