Glenda Faye (Stelling) King

Glenda Faye (Stelling) King
October 3, 1953 ~ 2019

Celebration of life service for Glenda will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019, in The Springs Church, 5500 S. Southwood, Springfield, Missouri. She was cremated at her request.

Glenda Faye Stelling was born October 3, 1953, to Eldor and Esther Stelling in Alva, Oklahoma. She attended elementary grades at Zion Lutheran School followed by Alva Junior High and High School and finally, Northwestern Oklahoma State University where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting and secretarial administration. She met her husband, Robert King, of 43 years, in high school chemistry class (where he knew all the answers and she was totally lost!). They dated for seven years through high school and college and married in May 1975. To this marriage, two children, Amanda Michelle King (Nichols) and Matthew Ryan King, were born.

During the family years, Glenda occasionally worked for Rob in his family physician office. She also nurtured and attempted to guide (Ha! a strong-willed husband and children) her family. She worked outside the home supporting Rob through medical school as secretary for Wilson Foods and accountant for Dover Elevator Corp. She was active as a pianist for the church choir, sewing for Newborns in Need, participating in several short-term mission trips, and most importantly, investing in the lives of her family and friends. She and the family enjoyed camping (in a motorhome with a bathroom!) fishing and hiking in the Colorado Rockies as often as possible with an active family. In 2011, after her diagnosis of ovarian cancer, she began to write a blog, which can be found on CaringBridge.org, and published a book about her first two years of living with cancer ("Step by Step Through the Fire - Reflections on Living with Cancer").

Glenda is survived by her husband, Rob of Ozark, Missouri; daughter Amanda and her husband Jonathan Nichols and three granddaughters, Haleigh Jo, Ariana Grace, and Emelia Faith of Ozark, Missouri; a son, Matthew of Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Randy Stelling and his wife, Kim, of Alva, and a sister, Sandra Brace and her husband Mark, of Lawton, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many precious friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Newborns in Need at 1740 S. Glenstone Ave., Suite S., Springfield, MO 65804 or http://www.newbornsinneedspringfield.org.
