Charles William Ketchum, 99, of Dewey, passed peacefully from this life into the hands of the Lord on February 11, 2025. Charles, “Charley” would have celebrated his 100th birthday on the 25th of March.
Charles was born March 25, 1925, in Dewey, to Abraham “Fish” William and Ella (Hudson) Ketchum.
Charley was a decorated World War II Army veteran who received several metals for his service in the Philippines, including a Bronze Star, a Bronze Arrow and numerous unit citations.
He and his wife Patricia “Pat” (Smith) spent most of their life living on the family farm north of Dewey, where they raised their five children, Debbie, Cathy, Steve, Mark, and Jim. In addition to working on the farm, Charley also worked in the oilfields and as a machinist. He and Pat shared many happy moments fishing for crappie on the banks of Copan Lake.
After Pat's passing in 2011, Charley continued to live on the homestead until 2022 with his beloved blue heeler "Blue."
Survivors include his five children, Debbie Minter and husband George, Cathy Etheridge and husband Jimmie, Steve Ketchum, Mark Ketchum, and Jim Ketchum and wife Linda; nine grandchildren, Chris Minter and wife Kristen, Jeremy Batchelder and wife Lindsay, Danelle Cook, Heather Hunter, Michele Hawkins and husband Brady, Shanna Boyd, Chase Ketchum and wife Erica, David Schulte, and Jimmy Dale Schulte. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pat; his parents, Abraham and Ella Ketchum; a brother, Benny Ketchum; a sister, Wanda Zoski; and a grandson, Patrick Clingen.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 113 S. Osage Ave., Dewey, OK 74029, 918-534-3030.
