Salina-
Jerry Wayne Kerns, born on September 8, 1950, in Kenwood,
Oklahoma, passed away at his home on July 9, 2025. He was a cherished member
of his family and a beloved friend to many. Jerry lived a life characterized
by kindness and generosity, particularly in his later years after
retirement. His character and integrity made him a trusted confidant and a
great friend to those around him. Jerry was known for taking people in, off
the streets, providing shelter, food, and a sense of belonging to those in
need. He truly exemplified the phrase "giving the shirt off his back."
A dedicated roofer for many years, Jerry worked alongside his brother Marvin and his son Kelly, contributing to the community with his skills. He was also a passionate horse racing enthusiast, proudly winning several trophies throughout his adventures. Later in life, Jerry fulfilled a dream by purchasing a home near Blue Hole, where he started a dairy farm. His love for the land showed in his gardening, where he took joy in planting and sharing the vegetables he grew with others.
In addition to his agricultural pursuits, Jerry had a fondness for the outdoors, often seen coyote hunting with his greyhound dogs. He loved spending weekends on Lake Hudson, where he would take his family out on his pontoon boat for fishing and tubing—a tradition that created cherished memories for all involved.
Jerry is survived by his daughter Terri and her husband Kyle Cummings of Tulsa, along with their children Tyler Brenton, Cheyenne, and Kylee. His son, Kelly Kerns, and four children: Zoe, Christian, Kelly Marie, and Colby. His daughter Chelcie Gwartney and her husband Josh of Pryor and son, Easton. Additionally, Jerry's son Cameron Kerns Doyle and his husband John Doyle of Jay, Oklahoma. Jerry also leaves behind his great-grandchildren: Koby, Brinsley, Kylen, and Oakley; and his sister, Judy Parrish of Claremore, Oklahoma.
