Gilbert Lawrence Kennedy Jr.

Oct. 12, 1927 ~ Nov. 4, 2015

A Celebration of Life service for Gilbert Lawrence Kennedy, Jr, age 88 of Enid will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with the Reverend Jim Edmison officiating. Cremation will follow the services under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Gilbert was born Oct.12, 1927, in Ponca City, to Gilbert and Myrtle Tanner Kennedy, Sr., and died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 in St. Mary's Regional Hospital. Gilbert grew up in the Ponca City area, graduating from Ponca City High School. He entered the U.S. Army/Air Force, serving 4 years. Gilbert helped with the family farming until moving to California to work for Armour Meat Packing Co. He later went to work for the U.S. Postal Service retiring in Amarillo, Texas after 30 years. Gilbert married Dorothy (Jean) Morris on July 24, 1949. They moved to Enid in 1991.

He is survived by his wife Jean of the home, 2 sons, Alan Kennedy of Enid and Bruce Kennedy of Lansing, Kan.; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Mathews of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a brother Gordon Kennedy of Madera, Calif.; and several other family members.

He was preceded in death by his son Jerry, and two brothers, Clarence and Joe.
