Charles Gilbert Keebler

August 11, 1918 ~ March 29, 2016

Charles Gilbert Keebler died March 29, 2016 at age 97 in Bartlesville, Ok where he has resided since the year 2000. He was born August 11, 1918 in Woodbury, N.J. He was the IRS Regional Commissioner of the Ohio region when he retired in 1974. During his career he received citations from Presidents Nixon and Johnson.

During WWII he served in both the Pacific and European Theaters: with the 96th Coast Artillery in Hawaii and with the 9th Air Force, 410th bomb group in England as a Bombardier-Navigator. He was wounded during the invasion of France on D-Day, June 6th, 1944. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

He was married to his loving devoted wife Goldie Helen Butler from Albany, Mo. for 65 years before her death in 2009. He is survived by his 5 children; David Keebler of Virginia; Mary Margraf of Ohio; Susan Carbaugh of Florida; Martha Moody of Oklahoma and Michael Keebler of Ohio. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; Ann Moody; Nicole Moody; John Carbaugh; Debbie Goody; Ben Keebler; Maia Parr; Arava Weller and Sara Keebler, plus 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his farther Charles M. Keebler, his mother Margaret Gilbert Keebler, his wife Goldie, and his sister Grace McKinnon.

He has donated his body to the University of Oklahoma Health Services Center. Burial of ashes will be at a later date, as well as a family celebration of life gathering in the near future.
