Dovie Ann (Satterwhite) Kaupke

Dovie Ann (Satterwhite) Kaupke
March 7, 1937 ~ January 24, 2022

Dovie Ann Satterwhite Kaupke came into the world on March 7, 1937, and was cradled in the arms of H.C. 'Buck' Satterwhite and Alta Marie Whinery Satterwhite at their home in Pleasant Grove, Wood County, Texas. From the age of five, Dovie worked in the East Texas cotton fields. After the family moved to Winnesboro, Texas, she held various jobs around town until she graduated from high school.

On June 11, 1956, she wed First Lieutenant Fred E. Kaupke at Foster AFB in Victoria, Texas on the day of his discharge from the United States Air Force and they headed north on an adventure that would last over 65 years.

She went home to see family and friends on January 24, 2022.

In the early years of their marriage, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Enid and Oklahoma City before they moved back to her beloved Texas where she continued her employment in Dallas. By 1965 they finally returned to Oklahoma where they resided in Drummond and raised two sons.

During her time in the small town, she worked alongside Fred at the local bank. She was a cherished member of the United Church of Christ. After her time at the bank, she followed her heart into jewelry and gemstones. Always seeking more knowledge, she achieved the honor of becoming a Graduate Gemologist and made custom jewelry for over 30 years.

Not content to stop learning, she channeled her passion into genealogy research which allowed her to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In her spare time, she was an avid photographer. She remained active in all her passions until her death.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Fred E. Kaupke; brother and sister-in-law, John Hulet and Nan Satterwhite; brother-in-law, Wayne Leshe; children - Greg and Marsha Kaupke, Brian D. and Whitney Kaupke; grandchildren - Michelle Kaupke and Adam Park, Megan Howell, Molly Kaupke and Conan Vaughn, Evan Kaupke, Emily and John Shearon, Kirk and Laura Kaupke, Kasey and John Rowland, Rayce Everett Lee Kaupke. There are also 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The service will be in Drummond, OK, at the Puritan Congregational United Church of Christ at 2:00 p.m. on January 31, 2022. There will be a visitation on Sunday January 30, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home in Enid, OK. Special memories may be shared with the family online at www.Brown-Cummings.com. Please join us for the celebration of a life lived well.

Memorials may be made in her honor to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
