Thelma S. (Strope) Kaniatobe
May 13, 1936 ~ March 21, 2016

Thelma S. Kaniatobe daughter of Daniel Arthur and Martha (Kuhns) Strope was born May 13, 1936 in Eldersville, PA and departed this life on March 21, 2016 in Tulsa, OK surrounded by loved ones at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 8 days.

Thelma graduated from Burgettstown High School in 1954. She married the love of her life Phil Kaniatobe on July 2, 1955 and to this union 3 children were born Kim, Keith and Kelly. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family.

She worked as a researcher for Phillips Petroleum for many years and was also an administrative assistant.

She was an avid reader and would read anything she could get her hands on. She also enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and reconnecting with old friends on the computer. One of her favorite things was to spend time with her family especially doting on her grandsons, cooking for them and enjoyed being their "Old Grandma".

She was preceded in death by her parents; Daniel and Martha Strope, 3 sisters; Patty Fusarelli, Shirley McManus and Lois Ezarik, 1 brother; Daniel Arthur Strope Jr.

Thelma is survived by a very loving family that includes her husband of over 60 years Phil Kaniatobe of the home in Stilwell, OK, 3 children; Kim Laurie Carroll of Tahlequah, OK, Keith Phillip Kaniatobe of Muskogee, OK, Kelly Matthew Kaniatobe of Fayetteville, AR, 1 grandchild; David Lee Carroll of Texarkana,TX. 1 great grandson; Jeron Kaniatobe Carroll of Sour Lake, TX,and his mother, Wessie, who Thelma loved dearly, and considered her as a granddaughter; 1 sister; Sally Strope of San Antonio, TX, brother in law; David Nathan Kaniatobe and wife Jody of Denton, TX, sister in law; Neenah Kaniatobe of Longview, TX , several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive her.

Memorial services were held at 2 pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel, Stilwell, Oklahoma.
