Randall Lee Jones

August 15, 1960 ~ October 21, 2017

Randall Lee Jones, 57, formerly of Bartlesville, OK passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2017, after a valiant year-long battle with cancer.

Randy was born in Bartlesville on August 15, 1960, to Kenneth and Barbara (Werts) Jones. The family lived in Bartlesville for most of Randy's childhood, with a brief move to Ada, OK in 1971. Randy graduated from Bartlesville Sooner High School in 1979. After high school he worked at a variety of jobs before going to work for the Bartlesville Police Department in the 1980s, where he was a jailer and then a public service officer until 1993.

In 1992 Randy met his life partner, Scott Lessman, and in 1996 the couple moved to Overland Park, KS where Randy worked in various capacities include truck driving, building & grounds maintenance, and eventually was self-employed in handyman and lawn care work. On December 27, 2013 Randy and Scott were married.

Randy is survived by his husband Scott of Overland Park, his parents Kenneth and Barbara Jones of Bartlesville, his brother and sister-in-law Kenneth Ray and Pat Jones of Moore, OK, his nephew and nieces, grand nephews and nieces, many cousins, aunts and uncles including his close cousins Pat and Gary Parrish of Copan, OK, and Alfred (Sonny) and Hillary Jones of Rogers, AR, his loving in-laws, a multitude of great friends, and his beloved dog Bentley.

Randy was preceded in death by his infant sister Vickie Lynn Jones, his grandparents, his close cousin Lonnie Jones, and other family members.

Randy was known as a hard-working man and a very great friend. He went out of his way to help friends and loved ones however possible, especially in ways that utilized his handy skills around the house, with no expectation of anything in return. In his admirable zest for life and fun, Randy was always thinking of others. He loved to give unexpected, thoughtful, and funny gifts to friends and family.

A visitation gathering for family and friends to remember Randy will be on November 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 499 4th Street, Ramona, OK. In addition, Randy and Scott's friends in the Overland Park area will hold a party as Randy requested to celebrate his life at a later date.
