Joyce Marie Gardner Jones
October 12, 1925 - August 11, 2016

Joyce Marie Gardner Jones, Ponca City resident, passed away On Thursday, August 11, 2016. She was 90 years young.

A memorial service will be held to honor her life on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 with Chaplin Tom Howard officiating.

Joyce was born on October 12, 1925, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the daughter of Harley and Hattie Gardner. She grew up east of Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1943. After high school, she married and moved first to California and then to Oregon and returned to Oklahoma in 1966. Joyce and Buster Jones were married on March 17, 1982. They spent many happy years traveling, visiting family and places all over the United States. She enjoyed remembering trips and fun times shared with her family and friends.

Joyce was a very hard worker and served the public 35 years as a well-respected waitress, who took pride in her job and cared about every customer. Joyce believed the days of others could be made brighter by a smile and a friendly greeting. Joyce was an avid gardener and loved to be outside. She especially loved her family and visits from those who knew and loved her most. She also enjoyed the companionship of her sweet cat, Tabby. Joyce was a faithful wife, loving mother and caring neighbor and friend.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Buster, her parents, her son, Michael Hartness, and three sisters and a brother.

Joyce is survived by her children, Pete Hartness and Judy Landrum and her husband Doug and grandson Nicholas Landrum and step-daughters: Terry Wright and husband Mike, Gail Barabasz and husband Gene, and Beverly O'Mara and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special friends, Ginger Henley and family.

She will be dearly missed by her family and neighbors and friends who loved her.
