Elmer James Jones, longtime Cushing resident, passed from this life with family by his side on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the age of 70.

Elmer was born on February 8, 1950 to Dennis and Edna (Stelting) Jones in Brewster, Washington. Growing up in Brewster, Elmer attended school and graduated from Brewster High School in 1968. After completing school, Elmer joined the United States Navy. He served his country proudly for 4 years before being honorably discharged. After being discharged, Elmer moved to Cushing and began work at Dalton Precision, where he met the love of his life, Gaye Martin. They married on September 13, 1975 in Cushing and had two loving children: Travis and Will.

Elmer worked at Evans Barrell and later at Walmart in Stillwater and Cushing. Elmer loved to spend time with his family and watch his children grow. In his free time, Elmer enjoyed hunting and fishing in Washington and Oklahoma.

Elmer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Gaye Jones of the home; son, Will Jones and wife Melissa, and their son Elijah NcNew of Ringgold, GA; sisters, Edna (Marti) and husband, James Leo of Channahon, IL, Linda McBride of Park Forest, IL, Furlene Covington of Muskogee, OK; brother, Eugene Jones of Spokane, WA; sisters-in-law, Sherri Hutchison and husband Tony, Becky Roe and husband Bud; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Elmer is preceded in death by his son, Travis Jones; parents, Dennis and Edna Jones; brother Dennis Jones; parents-in-law, Bill and June Martin; brother-in-law Ken.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elmer's name to Clarehouse.
