Melba was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on March 4, 1938. She moved to Oklahoma in 2008 from Panama City, Florida, where she had lived for 34 years. She was a homemaker and was remembered as being an excellent cook who took great pleasure in caring for her family.

Melba was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Pennington and her father, William Fred Pennington, both of Tampa, Florida.

Survivors include one daughter, Marqueta Bentley and husband, Douglas, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; two sons, Robby Johnson and wife, Mary, of Chipley, Florida and Paul Johnson and wife, Lisa, of Fountain, Florida; one sister, Joanne Pennington of Tampa, Florida; two brothers, Ed Pennington and wife, Effie, of Kissimmee, Florida and Gerald Pennington and wife, Belva, of Lutz, Florida; four grandchildren, Andrew Bentley and Heather Bentley of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Jeremiah Johnson and Kaitlyn Johnson of Fountain, Florida; and many other loved ones and friends.

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to Douglas Bentley for being so much more than a son in law, he was Melba’s faithful caregiver, whom she proudly called her son, and to Andrew Bentley and Heather Bentley, who were her on-call personal assistants that she could rely on day and night to assist her with any and everything.

Funeral service and burial will be in Tampa, Florida. Local arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
