Elsie (Bennett) Jaso
February 14, 1937 ~ July 19, 2021

Elsie Bennett Jaso passed peacefully, at the age of 84, on July 19, 2021, at her home in Kiowa, Kansas, surrounded by her loved ones. Elsie was born February 14, 1937, to Everett and Ethel Bliss Bennett in Comanche County, Kansas, at their family home. She grew up on the family farm with her three younger siblings, Alice, Ernest, and Wes. Growing up Elsie attended the Antioch Methodist Church in Buttermilk, Kansas. Elsie attended Avilla School, a one-room schoolhouse, until the fifth grade and then began attending school in Coldwater, Kansas. Elsie graduated from Coldwater High School in 1955.

Elsie worked as a waitress for several years in Alva, Oklahoma, where she met her husband, George Jaso. Elsie and George were married February 15, 1969, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Later, Elsie, George, and her three children, Don, Darren, and Debbie, moved to Ulysses, Kansas, where Elsie was a dedicated Avon sales representative for several years. In 2004 Elsie moved back to Kiowa, Kansas, where she resided for the last 18 years. Elsie spent her retired years enjoying time with her great grandchildren and researching, not only her own, but everyone's genealogy.

Elsie is preceded in death by her son, Donald Mills; mother, Ethel Bliss Bennett; father, Everett Bennett; husband, George Jaso; nephew, James Matthews and nephew, Adam Bennett.

She is survived by her brother, Ernest Bennett and wife Beverly of Greendale, Wisconsin; sister, Alice Matthews of Cheney, Kansas; brother, Wes Bennett and wife, Eloysa Bennett of Wellington, Kansas; daughter, Debbie Mitchell (Mike); son, Darren Mills (Connie); grandchildren, Timothy Thomason, Tabatha Mitchell (CJ), Mikka Mitchell (Drew), Dakota Mills (Mariah), Samantha Ditto, Courtney Rodriguez; great grandchildren, Camron and Trilbey Dorsey and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Funeral services for Elsie were held on Monday, July 26, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Bible Fellowship. Burial followed in Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, Kansas. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa. Online condolences may be made at http://www.lanmanmemorials.com.

Memorials may be made to Grace Bible Fellowship or Shriners Hospital for Children through the funeral home.
