David Janow Jr.

David Janow, 75 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in Woodward. Cremation services are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later date. 

David Janow, Jr. was born on September 15, 1942 in Woodward, Oklahoma the son of David Jefferson and Gladys Eugene (Walling) Janow. David spent his childhood in the Seiling area with his mother and Dad, Burt Cornish. He attended school in Seiling and graduated from Seiling High School. 

David was united in marriage to Alvina Sue Fowler on November 5, 1961 in Woodward, Oklahoma, where the couple made their home. David began working as manager at TG&Y. He also worked in the oilfield, and owned a caf� and donut shop. David mainly worked for the Department of Corrections as a maintenance supervisor, retiring after 20 years. 

David loved his family, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed taking his wife to Las Vegas, woodworking and fishing. He could be found watching John Wayne movies or Disney movies with his grandkids. David always looked forward to spending time with his family, having breakfast with his sons and grandsons, or popsicles with his granddaughters. He will be missed by his family and friends, especially during the holidays, which he always looked forward to. 

David is survived by his wife Alvina of the home; two sons, David Janow and wife Nancy of Woodward; Jimyjon Janow and wife Charline of Fairview; Davena Swinford and husband Danny of Woodward; Christina Carter of Ponca City; Penny Jones and husband Albert of Woodward; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews other family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-dad; three brothers; and five sisters.
