Dr. Joseph Morgan "Doc" James

September 3, 1925 ~ October 20, 2009

Dr. Joseph "Doc" Morgan James, 84, of Muskogee, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Muskogee Regional Medical Center. He was born September 3, 1925 in Ludlow, MO to Sien and Beulah James.

Joe attended and graduated from Polo High School in Missouri and attended Washington University in St. Louis. He then served in the Army Air Corps for two years before returning to school and graduating from the University of Missouri. He then received his MD from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in Pennsylvania and interned and completed residency at Kansas City General Hospital.

Dr. James came to Muskogee in 1957 and entered into practice with Dr. William Weaver. Dr. James retired in 1999.

A sports enthusiast, Dr. James enjoyed many activities throughout his life including bowling, racquetball, golf, tennis and softball.

Dr. James parents precede him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, David, Paul and Chris James; and his grandchildren, Ryan and Jennifer James.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Jardine officiating.

Memorial service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
