Unavee "Dee Dee" (Nelson) Jackson

Unavee "Dee Dee" (Nelson) Jackson
October 13, 1952 ~ February 5, 2023

Funeral services for Unavee "Dee Dee" Jackson, age 70, of Enid, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Maloney officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Home Veterans Cemetery, Kingsport, Tennessee. The United States Air Force will provide military honors. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home & Crematory.

Dee Dee was born October 13, 1952, in Kingsport, Tennessee, the seventh of eight children born to Sherman and Carrie (Tate) Nelson, and passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 in Enid, OK.

Dee Dee served her country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. She met her husband, Michael Jackson, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they were both serving in the U.S. Air Force. They were married six months later. She and Michael were honorably discharged in 1981 and then moved to Enid, where she was a homemaker and mother to her sons, JJ and Tony. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business later in life after the boys were grown. Becoming a grandmother was the joy of her life, welcoming her first granddaughter, Harlee, in 2010, and then followed by Aliyah Draper and, most recently, River Rose.

Following her retirement, Dee Dee volunteered at the YMCA for over 20 years, and for several of the animal welfare and rescues in the Enid area. She enjoyed watching Harlee play basketball, going fishing with Tony and going to an array of entertainment events with JJ. She was loving and generous and will be missed by all who knew her.

Dee Dee is survived by two sons, JJ Jackson and wife Julie, of Enid, Tony Jackson of Enid; three granddaughters, Harlee Dawn Maloney, Aliyah Draper and River Rose Jackson, all of Enid; brother-in-law, Bud Morelock, and one younger brother, Brady Nelson, both of Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.

Memorial contributions in Dee Dee's name may be made to Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home to contribute to funeral expenses.

Dee Dee's favorite color was purple, so the family asks that you wear something purple in her memory.

Condolences may be made, memories shared and services viewed online at www.ladusauevans.com.
