Jean Marciel (Fredrickson) Jackman
February 25, 1926 ~ February 11, 2013 (age 86)

Jean Marciel Fredrickson Jackman, age 86, died Monday at Norman Regional Hospital after a short illness.  She was born in Wellington, Kansas on February 25, 1926 to Arch Andrew and Hazel (Davis) Fredrickson. 

She attended schools in Wellington, KS and then the University of Oklahoma, where she was named Outstanding Freshman Home Economics Student.  She also worked as a Reservationist for Braniff Airlines.  Jean attended Wayne State University and received her Associates Degree in Library Science after her children were grown.  She then worked for the Birmingham School System in Michigan for 13 years.  During her children's high school years, Jean worked with the American Foreign Exchange Students program, hosting two foreign exchange students, Alberto Plata, and Barbara Kind. Jean and Lloyd retired back to Norman, OK in 1993.  She was a member of McFarlin United Methodist Church, and active in the community until she became physically disabled. 

Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lloyd Spencer Jackman and her son, L. Stephen Jackman, MD. 

She is survived by her son, David Drew Jackman and his wife, Carol O'Neill of Espanola, NM and daughter, Melanie Diane Riker and her husband, Samuel T. Riker, Jr. of Memphis, TN.  She is also survived by two grandsons, Samuel Thomas Riker, III and Matthew Jackman Riker and his wife, Laura Riker, of Memphis, TN, and one great-grandson, Logan Jackman Riker, and sister-in-law, Helen Maxine Permenter, of Edmond, OK.  

A committal service will be held at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.
