A graveside service for James Randall Hutson, 58, of Quinault, Washington, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 11 in Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, Texas, with Reverend Larry Huffman officiating.
Born February 21, 1965, to Jimmy Hutson and Phyllis Hurst Hutson Moore, he passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, in Quinault.
Randy is survived by his mother and stepfather Phyllis and Ray Moore of Gainesville; uncle James Hurst of Gainesville; aunt Mary Dooley of Modesto, California; very special cousins, Bill and Sandra Haney of Prosper, Texas, Larry, Donna, and Natalie Lawver of Waxahachie, Texas, Lisa and Paul Johnson and children of Van Alstyne, Texas, Lori Smith and sons of Celina, Texas, and Jane Lillard Tassiello and husband Joe and family of Oklahoma City; many loving cousins in Texas and California; stepbrother Jim Moore and family of Thackerville; stepsister Kim Dane and family of Pilot Point, Texas; and many, many beloved friends locally and in Quinault where he had resided for the last 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Hutson; sister, Kelly Hutson; maternal grandparents Johnnie and Willard Hurst; and paternal grandparents Ruth and Allen Hutson.
Randy had a whimsical sense of humor and had gained many, many friends over the years. He was dearly loved by his family and was well known for his very kind heart. He was extremely smart, excelling academically in school, especially in computer science where as a student he taught adults how to use computers in business. He was a member of the golf team and showed his acting talents in the drama club. Graduating from Callisburg (Texas) High School in 1983, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree and then master's degree in computer science at Texas A&M University.
Randy was enrolled in the cradle roll department at the Grand Avenue Baptist Church at less than a week old. He was a very active member there until he left Gainesville to attend college.
He was truly at one with nature, climbing and hiking many mountains. He loved to explore the outdoors and had a strong affinity for trees. He grew closer to God through nature.
