Richard Cam “Ricky” Hornbeak

June 29, 1950 ~ November 30, 2019

 Richard Cam “Ricky” Hornbeak completed his assignment among the living on Saturday, November 30, 2019. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 7 at the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Marietta.

He was born to the union of Joe Nathan Hornbeak, Sr. and Christine Jones on June 29, 1950 in Marietta. He was raised in a community where he was known and loved by all. He attended Douglass School and later Marietta Public Schools, graduating in 1968. He attended Langston University and graduated with a degree in health, physical education and recreation in May 1972. He was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and other organizations while matriculating at Langston. Ricky began his lifework as a teacher in the Oklahoma City Public School System. Later he moved to Houston and enrolled in a master’s program at Texas Southern University and pursued a career in concert promotions. During the last years of his life, he served as one of the directors of Oxford House in Shawnee. Ricky always had a smile and helping hand for all.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnny Ray Hornbeak and Ronald Edward Hornbeak.

He leaves to cherish his memories four brothers, Joe N. Hornbeak, Jr. (Mildred) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Steve A. Hornbeak (Doreen) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; David K. Hornbeak (Rhonda) of Marietta and Gilbert R. Hornbeak of Spencer; two aunts, Hattie D. McCarroll of Langston and Betty L. Williams (Ken) of Oklahoma City; and nieces and nephews, Monique Patterson, Joe N. Hornbeak, III, Damon L. Hornbeak, Jerrone L. Hornbeak, DaQuant N. Hornbeak, Jerrick L. Hornbeak, Jaquay M. Haynes, Kalani Brown, Steve A. Hornbeak, Jr., Khristina Hornbeak, Danny Robinson, Kisha Thomas, Ann Garcia-Stevenson, Rynnel Cook, Raena R. Pettie, and a host of cousins, in-laws, and other relatives and friends to honor his memory.
