James A. Holt

James A. Holt
June 15, 1944 ~ March 24, 2024

James A. Holt, of Calera, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born in Milburn, Oklahoma to George Washington and Emma Elizabeth (Nails) Holt. He was the second to the youngest of eight children growing up in the Tishomingo/Milburn area.

James honorably served his country in the US Army before embarking on a career as a contractor from which he retired. He enjoyed woodworking and was known to be quite handy. He was also known for swapping and trading just about anything, especially pocketknives. James was also a generous man who would give you the shirt off his back.

He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Holt of Calera, Oklahoma, and Terresa Eaton of Denison, Texas. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Chris Clark, Terre Eaton, Randee Sisk, Wrett Holt, Tiffany Davis, and AJ Spears, as well as his great-grandchildren, Zaleek Jordan, Hailee Sisk, Kylee Madsen, Brayden Spears, and Abbigayle Spears. Also surviving James are many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, George and Emma Holt; his brothers, Sonny, Jimmy, Giggs, and Buddy Holt; sisters, Helen Crow, Marie Holt, and Sue Conary; and his daughter Brenda Holt and his son Jamie Holt.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Denison, Texas, with Pastor Cindy Eeds officiating. James will be laid to rest following his graveside service.
