Charles Dean Hite, Jr., 99, of Keystone Heights, Florida, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Willey Manor, Park of the Palms in Keystone Heights. He was a native of Centralia, Illinois and had moved to Keystone Heights in 2008 coming from Marietta.
Charles spent most of his life in the Miami/Homestead Florida area. He had been a farmer in Illinois and was an owner/operator of a grocery store in Miami and Homestead for many years. He served in the United States Navy and was an aircraft mechanic during World War II. Charles was a member of First Christian Church in Marietta where he served as a deacon and was also a member of Park of the Palms Chapel. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Dean Hite, Sr. and Flora Wallis Hite, and two daughters, Thedia Boley and Ellen Williamson.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Barlow (Don) of Grandin, Florida; so, Charles L. “Butch” Hite (Rita) of Lake Mary, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25 at Willey Manor, Park of the Palms in Keystone Heights with Frank Huston officiating.
