Fred Robert Hinkle
May 13, 1943 ~ 2018

Fred Robert Hinkle, 75, of Copan passed away Sunday in Tulsa, OK.

Fred was born the son of Henry Silas, and Vera Pauline (Johnson) Hinkle on May 13, 1943, in Copan, OK. Fred was raised and educated in Copan, OK. While attending Copan schools he enjoyed being active in any and all sports activities, but had a special passion for football. After Fred graduated in1961, he accepted a football scholarship to play for Independence Community College, where he earned his associate's degree.

Fred left Copan and went to work for Beech Aircraft, in Wichita, KS, where he worked loyally for 12 years. Fred then moved back to Copan where he started his own business building steel barns and hauling grain to the Port of Catoosa. Fred then went to work with the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and was able to work all around the world including Antarctica where he had a special picture taken with a wild Penguin which is treasured by his children.

Fred had many passions in life, but nothing was like the satisfaction of working hard and accomplishing a goal he set for himself. Fred loved taking care of his land, and learning all about the local wildlife and nature that surrounded him. He could tell you the type of any tree he walked by, but he had a special fondness for his pecan trees. Fred was a handyman that would work on his cars and anything around the house that needed fixed. He enjoyed music and loved playing his guitar for anyone who would listen. Fred was a well-loved man, and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.

Fred is survived by his wife of the home Vickie; five children, Kathy Hinkle of Tulsa, Jeri Hinkle Bordine of Elk City, Dr. Sandra Easter and Mark of Independence, KS, Scott Hinkle and Nicole of Copan, Fred Hinkle II and Carolyn of Skiatook; two brothers, Bruce Hinkle of Copan, George Hinkle and Diane of Bartlesville; one sister Marilyn Blackburn and Dan of Bartlesville; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.

Services will be held 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at the Caney Recreation Center in Caney, Ks. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel.

Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
