Herb Hill

Herb Hill
October 21, 1940 ~ November 19, 2015

Herb Hill was born October 21, 1940 in Tama, Iowa to Gladys and Talbert L. Hill. He passed away November 19, 2015 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years and 28 days.

Herb grew up in Tama where he graduated from high school. He continued his education at Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he attended business college. He worked as a salesman at a car dealership before beginning his career as a professional Truck Driver. Herb was married Bonnie Jo Miller in Grinnell, Iowa on June 11, 1960 and they lived in Cedar Rapids before moving to Iowa City, Iowa. At the age 32, Bonnie passed away on September 27, 1971. Herb later moved to Cherokee Village, Arkansas in November of 1978 before moving to Sayre, Oklahoma in 1981 to work in the oilfield. He moved back to Iowa in 1983 where returned to truck driving. He was married to Georgeann Zook at Lone Tree, Iowa on July 19, 1996 and in 1998 they moved to Delhi, Oklahoma to make their home. They operated their own business, Herb Hill Trucking until selling it to Jerry Howell and Herb continued to drive for Jerry until his retirement in 2012. Herb will be remembered by his family and many, many friends as being a unique and unforgettable character who lived his life to the fullest.

In addition to Bonnie Jo, he was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Edgar and Alan Hill, a sister, Eva Lee Jacobson, and a nephew, Marty Jacobson.

He is survived by his wife, Georgeann, of the home; 3 children, Tim Hill and wife, Sharon, Sayre, OK, Lisa Dodson and husband, Ronnie, Sayre, OK, and Andrew Hill and wife, Sherri, Piedmont, OK; 2 stepchildren, Jimmy Sell, and Jeff Sell, Muscatine, IA; 6 grandchildren, Tami and husband, Brandon, Tara, Coy, Harley, Brittney, Amy; 10 great grandchildren, a brother, Gene Hill, Toledo, IA; 15 nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives, and friends. As per Herb's wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be planned at a later date so that his friends and family can gather to celebrate his life.
