Wylene (Hodges) Hilburn

Wylene (Hodges) Hilburn
November 10, 1952 ~ May 22, 2023

Wylene Hilburn, age 70, of Newcastle passed away on May 22, 2023. Wylene Hodges was born on November 10, 1952 in Memphis, Texas, the baby of 4 children born to Bennie Gene Hodges and Mary Elizabeth (Jackson) Hodges. She was the only daughter and the apple of her fathers eye. She was primarily raised in Texas, where she attended school up until the 11th grade. A few years later, she met a young man by the name of Luther Gayle Hilburn. They were married on February 14, 1970 in Denton, Texas and were lifelong sweethearts. The rest, as they say, is history.

Together they raised two beautiful children, Cheryl and Mark. They moved around as a family and lived in several different cities including, Denton, Edmond, El Reno, and Yukon, before eventually making their home in Newcastle. Wylene was a simple woman, who truly enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved to fish, play computer games, and hit the slot machines every now and then. However, one of her all-time favorite hobbies was to solve jigsaw puzzles. More than anything, Wylene was a family woman. She adored her children and the countless memories they made. One of their favorites, is of her making her famous “Tater John” for dinner. It was her special dish, made with love every single time. Wylene was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Luther Hilburn; father, Bennie Hodges; brother, Danny Hodges; son, George Bischoff; and her fur babies, Misty and Muffin.

Wylene is survived by: her mother, Mary Hodges of Newcastle; daughters, Cheryl Westbrook of Newcastle and Brenda (Mick) Schreiber of Oklahoma City; son, Mark (April) Hilburn of Edmond; brothers, Lee Hodges of Oklahoma City, Don Hodges of Norman and a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you make donations to No Boundaries International (www.nbint.org), in her name. www.wilsonlittle.com
