Celebration of life for Shirley Jean Hewlett will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Greg Hook officiating. She was cremated at her request under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Shirley Jean Hewlett, daughter of the late Willard Merriam "Bill" Hewlett Jr. and Doris Isabel (Cayot) Hewlett, was born March 5, 1969, in Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away June 14, 2017, at the age of 48 years, 3 months and 9 days.

Shirley attended school in Kiowa, Anthony, and Garden City before graduating from Syracuse High School. She moved to Alva soon after graduation and worked as assistant manager at the Lite-N-Nite for 23 years. She cared for four foster children over the years, Christopher, Brian, Michael and Michael.

She was a member of the Alva First Baptist Church. She loved any and all animals and was an integral part of the organization Creature Concerns. She loved everything OU, including all sports, especially football. Shirley loved and adored all her nieces and nephews. They were her pride and joy. Shirley had a way to make people laugh and smile. She also loved to cook for people and was a great cook. Shirley also was a very giving person, she might have a nickle and give you a quarter.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Hewlett.

Shirley is survived by one brother, Jerome Hewlett of San Diego, California; three sisters, Annette Warrington and husband, Jerry, of Yoder, Kansas; Dorothy Lansdown and husband, Marvin, of Cañon City, Colorado; and Diana Almquist and husband, Bryan, of Nickerson, Kansas; a sister adopted in love, Pam Lyon and husband, Greg, of Enid; nieces and nephews, J. D. Warrington and wife, Shelia, and children, John and Holly; Dawn Warrington and child, Elayna; Levi Lansdown and wife, Renee, and children, Abigail and Cameron; Lora Talbert and husband, Jesse, and child, Ellarae; Ryan Almquist and wife, Samantha, and children, Ryder and Paisley; and Ashley Almquist and fiancé, Jordan Newton; special friends, Lisa McMurphy, Raymond Knabe, Jodie Bradford, Lola Bradford, Duania Major, Jennifer Hess and Eric Tutwiler; and way too many more relatives and friends to mention.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the funeral home for funeral expenses or to Creature Concerns.
