David Clark Helm

David Clark Helm
January 31, 1940 ~ August 4, 2017

David Clark Helm age 77 of Lexington, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, in Tulsa. David was born January 31, 1940 in Maud, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of five children born to Russell Clark Helm and Alta Mae (Hart) Helm. David grew up near Noble and attended Noble schools.

During his senior year of high school he enlisted into the military and proudly served four years in the U. S. Air Force. After being honorably discharged he returned home to Oklahoma and later married Melba McDaniel. They were married in 1964, in Hamlin, Texas.

Together David and Melba raised three children, Argon, Aron and Angie. After marrying, they made their home in the Lexington area and he soon started working as an auto mechanic for Fred Jones Ford. He worked five years for Fred Jones before going to work at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman. He retired in 1995 after 25 years of dedicated service. David enjoyed being outdoors and working with his hands. He loved tinkering around the home, working on old vehicles and doing carpentry work. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and raising farm animals. For many years David attended Crosspointe Church in Norman and was a member of the Lexington American Legion.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Russell and Alta Mae Helm; Brothers, J. B. and Daniel Helm; Sister, Murell Morris; Great grandson, Jason Lee Taylor; Brother-in-law, James McDaniel

He is survived by: Wife, Melba Helm Three children, Argon Helm and wife Rebecca of Tacoma, WA, Aron Helm and wife Eva of Lexington, Angie Helm of Lexington; Brother, Charlie Lee Helm of Chickasha, Sister-in-law, Julie Helm; Seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.
