David Wayne Hazen

David Wayne Hazen
December 3, 1954 ~ March 26, 2023

David Wayne Hazen, age 68, of Fairfax, OK passed from this life on Sunday afternoon March 26, 2023. He passed in Oklahoma City, OK surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Jack and Mary Lou Hazen in Fairfax, OK on December 3, 1954.

Growing up a Fairfax Red Devil he participated in many sports from a young age. He graduated with the class of 1973 where he was named Mr. FHS by the student body his senior year. Following high school, he attended San Diego Community College and the University of Oklahoma prior to receiving his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1979. David married the love of his life, Teresa (Terry) West, on August 18, 1979. The couple was blessed with two sons, Joe and Jared, who were also raised in Fairfax.

After graduation from Oklahoma State University, David started his engineering career with General Dynamics in San Diego, CA. He later worked for Lear Fan in Reno, NV before finding his real passion working in the oil fields of Oklahoma and Texas as a drilling supervisor. His time as a drilling supervisor left him with many stories to tell which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. When the oil fields of Oklahoma and Texas led to stints working on offshore drilling rigs in the North Sea and off the coast of Africa, David and his family decided it was time for a change. At that time the family moved back to his hometown of Fairfax, OK where he spent time doing carpentry, ranching, and farming.

One of his biggest pastimes later in life was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he met. He spent many hours volunteering at John 3:16 in Tulsa, playing drums and singing with Ronnie Smith. David was known for giving hugs and saying "I love you".

He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Kah Wah C Country Club. Most recently, he devoted his time and efforts into keeping the country club going. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and reminiscing with everyone at the local gathering places.

He is survived by his former wife of 41 years, Terry Hazen; his sons, Joe (and Laura) Hazen of Edmond, OK and Jared (and Candace) Hazen of Kingston, TN; six grandchildren, Madison, James, Roman, Bronson, Grayson, and Oakley; seven bonus grandchildren, Gabby, Kadi, Madison, Jeremiah, Jace, Hattie, and Hudson; a half-brother Danny (and Roberta) Hazen; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Tammy West and many close friends.

David is reunited in heaven with his parents, Jack and Mary Lou, and his sister Jackie Sue Hazen.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 29 at the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, 161 N 5th St., Fairfax, OK with Pastor Lewis Bernard official
