Kem Owen Harzman

July 6, 1944 ~ April 28, 1993

Belleville, Illinois – The funeral for Kem Owen Harzman, 48, will be at 10 AM Monday at Winstanley Baptist Church in Belleville, Illinois. The Rev. Wendell Garrison will officiate. Burial will be in Valhalla Garden of Memories Cemetery in Belleville under direction of Baldus – Radden Funeral Home.

He was born July 6, 1944, at Hardtner, Kansas, and died Wednesday, April 28, 1993, at Scott Air Force Base Medical Center in Belleville after a sudden illness.

He had attended Alva public schools, graduating in 1962. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1969. He worked on the family farm southeast of Alva. He began work at Tinker Air Force Base in the financial division, then to Dayton Air Force Base, to San Bernardino, California and Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City.

On June 20, 1982, he married Phyllis Robertson in Oklahoma City. They lived in Oklahoma City, Denver, Colorado, San Antonio, Texas, and Scott Air Force Base where he was director of budget for Air Force Communication Command and has worked for the US Air Force for more than 26 years.

He was a member of Alva First United Methodist Church, the American Society of Military Comptrollers and the Air Force Association.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Charles P. of the home in Swansea, Illinois; one sister, Suzanne Resler of Alva; two brothers, Nick of Woodward and Bill of Jet.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Heart Association.
