Martin Wayne Hanson was born on February 14, 1950 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Lola Ruth (Knowles) and Floyd Hanson. He went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2025.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Alvin and Bobby; sisters Gloria and Sharon; and brother-in-law Keith Voss. He is survived by two sons, Tony Hanson and Marlon Hanson of Canton, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mardena Chase of Clinton, Oklahoma and Deirdre Hanson of Cleveland, North Carolina; brother Ronnie Hanson of Seiling, Oklahoma; sisters Cheryl Gambrel and Arthur of Seiling, Oklahoma, Clara Voss of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Sandra Thacker and Joshua of Enid, Oklahoma and Mary Nowlin and Don of Seiling, Oklahoma; uncle Eldon Knowles of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Martin graduated from Seiling High School. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps. and served until he was medically discharged. Martin lived in many places because he worked on oil rigs most of his life. He loved his family and spending time with them. He also had a good time with his cousin Fred Ferbrache. He was an animal lover, mostly horses and goats. He liked to sell watermelons after he retired from the oil field. Martin also enjoyed gardening and usually had a garden wherever he was living. He will be missed by many.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at the Canton Christian Church with Pastor Michael Grigsby officiating. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
