Mr. Herman D. Hampton, 86, of Bartlesville, died at 9:33 A.M. on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Memorial services for Mr. Hampton will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, February 3, 2017 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Lee Hamiton of Bartlesville officiating. Memorial services and cremation are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105, 501 N.E. Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.

Mr. Hampton was born at Mansfield, Arkansas on May 12, 1930 the son of Oscar Franklin Hampton and Starlie (Payton) Hampton. He grew up and received his education at Mansfield, Arkansas where he also graduated from high school. He entered the United States Navy and served offshore Korea during the Korean Conflict. Following his Honorable Discharge, he came to Tulsa where he was employed with Singer Sewing Machine Company and then transferred to Bartlesville to become the manager of the Singer Store in downtown Bartlesville. In 1962 the Singer Sewing Machine Store was opened in Pennington Hills Plaza Shopping Center in Bartlesville and Mr. Hampton purchased the dealership in 1980. He continued as the owner operator of the store until August of 2016 culminating a career of 62 years. He was married to Wanda Jean Cacy in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 11, 1951 and they made their home briefly in Tulsa until moving to Bartlesville where they have continued their home. He was a member of the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105 and the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge # 284 AF & AM. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, his dog and his birds and loved to garden. Hamp was known around Bartlesville as the 'Singer Man' and the 'guy that cooked the steaks at the American Legion'.

Mr. Hampton is survived by his wife, Wanda of the home, four children, Larry Hampton and wife Theresa, Jerry D. Hampton and wife Kerri, all of Bartlesville, JoLynn Emery and husband Alan of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Debbie Hampton of Bartlesville, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, J.C. Hampton.
