Robert Merrill 'Merle' Hamilton
1954 ~ January 5, 2020

Robert Merrill 'Merle' Hamilton, 65, passed away on Sunday January 5th, 2020. He was born to Robert Grant Hamilton and Lorraine Merrill Hamilton in Long Beach California. He was the middle child to two older siblings and two younger. Football was his favorite sport. He played for Neff high school and received 'All LA' and 'All Orange County'. After graduating in 1972, he played college football at Cerritos and West Texas, where he received a scholarship. It is what brought him to Texas; where his two daughters live, and Oklahoma, where his 4 children and the love of his life resides.

He worked various occupations throughout his life, but the longest and most enjoyed was truck driving. He "drove over a million miles". He met his wife, of 31 years, Michelle Hamilton, in 1988, in Turpin Oklahoma. They moved, in 1992, to Muskogee with their two children. They settled down here, had two more children, and raised their beautiful family together. He was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed dearly by everyone who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Grant Hamilton. He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Hamilton of Montana; his wife Michelle Hamilton of Muskogee Oklahoma; son, John Hamilton of Muskogee; daughters, Hannah Newman and husband Wes of Owasso, OK, Rachael Hamilton of Muskogee, Emma Hamilton of Muskogee, Stephanie Farris and husband Adrian of Amarillo TX, Bobbie Shae Crooks and husband Josh of Amarillo TX; grandchildren: Claire Elizabeth Newman, Hudson Farris, Hawkins Farris, Parker Basket; siblings: Nancy Hamilton of Montana, Ken Hamilton and wife Lynne of California, David Hamilton of California, Peggy Grobel of Montana; and numerous brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Muskogee.

Michelle Lea (Violett) Hamilton
January 6, 1970 ~ February 21, 2023

Michelle Lea Hamilton passed away on Tuesday February 21, 2023 at the age of 53. She was born in Grove, OK on January 6, 1970. The oldest of six siblings, Michelle was a natural born big sister, developing a caring outlook towards her family that she would always carry. She attended a Christian Academy in Neosho, MO before continuing her education in Turpin, OK.

It wasn't long after high school that Michelle met her late husband of thirty-one years, Robert Hamilton, in 1988. In the years that immediately followed, Michelle and Bob would have their eldest children John and Hannah before settling down in Muskogee, OK in 1992. Upon settling down, it wouldn't be long before her youngest daughters Rachael and Emma joined their growing family. Michelle would begin a career at the Muskogee Phoenix where she worked to serve her community for many years. Michelle stood as a central pillar for all who knew her, acting as an example of a devoted mother, sister, and to her immense joy, a grandmother as well. None who knew Michelle could question her unwavering dedication to her friends, family, and faith.

She is preceded in death by; her mother, Clara Ruth Violett, Father, William Lee Violett, and Husband, Robert Merrill Hamilton.

She is survived by her son, John Hamilton of Muskogee, OK. Daughters; Hannah Newman and husband Wes of Owasso, OK, Rachael Hamilton of Muskogee, OK, and Emma Hamilton of Muskogee, OK. Grandchildren, Claire and Creede Newman. Siblings; Becky Drum and husband Todd of Neosho, MO, Lori Franks of Sapulpa, OK, Tara Greer and husband James of Carterville, MO, Ronald Clark of Muskogee, OK, Derrek Clark of Tulsa, OK, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday May 21, 2023 at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home in Muskogee.
