Surrounded by those he loved, and who loved him in return, Larry E. Hamilton, 76, died peacefully at home on Saturday August 6, 2016.

Memorial Services will be held for Larry at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday August 13, 2016 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements and Services are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn Hamilton, his children, Ty E. Hamilton and wife Laura, Jolene R. Kibort and husband Tom, and Cindy Ford and husband Kevin. Larry was predeceased by his daughter, Kim Davidson. Larry had nine grandchildren, Jeff, Thomas, Carime, Alex, Megan, Caitlin, Alyssa, Gage and Gunner, and also five great-grandchildren.

After graduating from Bradley Bourbonnais High School, he attended Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois, and then served in the U.S. Air Force, from which he was honorably discharged in 1967. Larry joined Local 597 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in Kankakee, Illinois, and in 1997, he and Carolyn founded H & H Mechanical Company, which they ran successfully for seven years. In 2004, they retired to Bartlesville, OK, to begin a new career of breeding, raising, training, and showing superior cutting horses. He was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association since the 1970's, and he and Carolyn attended many cutting horse futurities in Ft. Worth, TX.

Larry was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. In addition to his love for horses, he was a talented artist, a good friend to many people from all walks of life, a lover of children and animals, and an avid and accomplished outdoors man. Larry was known as a great storyteller and enjoyed sharing tales of his many adventures with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The memory of his dynamic personality and love of life will survive him, and his many friends at the Half-Dollar Cafe, and the Copan Truck Stop will mourn his passing.
